Owner and Experienced Arborist and Landscaper Heike Krauland

Be Happy Landscaping is rooted in one simple belief: landscapes are living systems that deserve informed, attentive care.
Founded and led by a seasoned female horticulturist with over 30 years of hands-on experience, Be Happy Landscaping offers refined garden care grounded in plant knowledge, observation, and respect for natural form. What began as a lifelong connection to plants has grown into a dedicated practice focused on helping landscapes mature gracefully and sustainably over time.
Knowledge is essential. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management and a second Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, providing a broad understanding of both ecological systems and the relationship between people and the environments they inhabit. With a lifelong passion for art, I also earned an Associate’s degree in Visual Arts, which complements my work in landscape design and ornamental pruning by bringing balance, structure, and aesthetic intention to outdoor spaces. Certifications include Connecticut Supervisory Arborist and Master Gardener.
My work centers on shaping and maintaining trees and shrubs in a way that supports their health and natural structure. Proper pruning is not about simply cutting back growth — it is about understanding how a plant grows, how it responds, and how to guide it without compromising its integrity. The same philosophy applies to perennial beds, garden renovations, and plant selection.
Clients throughout the Farmington Valley trust Be Happy Landscaping for thoughtful, detail-oriented care that protects the long-term beauty and value of their property. Many relationships continue year after year, allowing gardens to mature naturally while remaining healthy and refined.
This work is not about quick fixes or surface-level maintenance. It is about understanding plants, respecting their growth patterns, and helping landscapes thrive for decades.
